DustFox

DustFox or Cleaner Kit?

Cleaner Kit is the second most rated storage cleaner in many countries. Here is how it compares with DustFox on price, privacy and what it cleans, from both App Store listings.

Short answer: Cleaner Kit and DustFox both find duplicates, blurry shots and big videos, and both say the analysis happens on the phone. They differ in price model and privacy. Cleaner Kit is billed weekly or annually after a free trial, and its App Privacy label is one of the broadest in the category. DustFox can be bought once or by the year, and its label lists only anonymous usage and purchase data, not linked to you.

The price list is worth a look

Cleaner Kit’s listing shows several items with similar names, such as Premium, Pro and Premium under other product names, at different prices, and says they are billed weekly or annually. Before a trial ends, open Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions to see what you are about to pay and how often. DustFox has one Pro, bought once or by the year, and the free version shows what Pro would free on your own library before you pay.

What the labels mean in practice

A privacy label is the developer’s own summary of what the app collects. “Used to track you” means the data can be combined with data from other companies’ apps and websites for advertising. Cleaner Kit’s label includes Location and, linked to you, User Content. DustFox has no advertising or analytics SDK; its only third-party code is RevenueCat, which verifies Pro purchases. Apart from that, it sends only anonymous usage statistics, which can be turned off.

Where each one is the better fit

Choose Cleaner Kit if you want one app for contacts, email and a locked folder as well as photos. Choose DustFox if you want a photo and video cleaner that frees space without deleting, with Shrink Videos, Compressible Photos and Live Photos, that builds a plan for exactly the space you need, and that stays out of your data.
