DustFox

Finds what to delete

Large Videos: the biggest space eaters

A single 4K recording can weigh more than a thousand photos. DustFox sorts every video by size so you start with the ones that matter.

Why start with videos?

Because size is uneven. 4K video at 60 fps is recorded at around 50 Mbps, so a few minutes can take gigabytes. A handful of long recordings often outweigh years of photos.

What does DustFox show?

Every video, largest first, with its size, resolution and length. The first few decisions free the most space, and you can stop whenever you have enough.

Delete or shrink?

If a video matters but its size bothers you, Shrink Videos may be the better answer: it keeps the video and re-encodes it more efficiently. If you never watch it, deleting is the bigger win.

What happens when I delete?

The videos move to Recently Deleted and wait 30 days. DustFox says so on screen, including the part that surprises people: the space only returns once that album is emptied.

Questions about Large Videos

Can I keep a large video and still free space?

Often, yes. Shrink Videos re-encodes a video with HEVC at the same resolution and frame rate, which frequently halves it without deleting anything.

Why is a video I deleted still taking space?

Deleted videos wait 30 days in Recently Deleted. The space comes back once that album is emptied.

Does Large Videos include videos stored only in iCloud?

By default DustFox lists only videos whose original is on the device, because those are the ones that free device space. Turn on the iCloud switch to see the whole library.
